Facebook & MySpace under attack

Koobface Worm In New Form Infects Facebook, MySpace

Facebook and MySpace user beware: the Koobface virus is back in a new form. Huliq reports:
A new strain of Koobface worm, a type of web application virus, is resurfacing in Facebook and Myspace. Security experts warn the users of the popular online social networks to be watchful and use caution when on the networks. The "Koobface" Facebook worm tricks users and hijacks accounts.
This virus seems similar to the one that was affecting Gchat users not long. That worm also used false messages from friends to hijack your confidential information.
Take care when using those large social networking sites people!

I have PMS sooo bad today. Yet as I look outside I know that I am at least 4 weeks, maybe even 6 away from riding my motorcycle. It is tough I gotta tell you!

I hope those who are riding already stay hyper aware and vigilant at staying safe...please!

For the rest of you, stay safe and warm...

Quiet news day so far...

Today is a quiet news day, at least so far and truly after the last couple of days I think that's a good thing.

There are many times when I get so heart sick and disgusted by the news feeds that it throws my day off.

Ali has been down with a brutal cold but is still managing to work on our web site. She found the fix for our riding clubs component and it is finally displaying properly, we have about 460 links in there so far and I do have a ton of data entry to on the riding clubs, I will get it done eventually but if you know of a club that has an active web site, please add it! With your help we are becoming a great clearing house of information.

We are moving things around a bit in an effort to tighten the site up. Now if Internet Explorer could ever get their act together I'd be a really happy woman. Our site works better in explorer now but there are still anomalies and quirks.

If all goes well, by this weekend I will have my year end done and off to the accountant.
I hate books but nonetheless it is a job that has to be done so...

I'll let you all go but remember, if you live where you can ride already - ride like they are out to get you because - they are!

For the rest of you, stay safe and warm!

Mounties lying in a bid to save jobs?

The news is filled with more tragic and twisted tales.

The latest involves Cpl. Benjamin "Monty" Robinson - he's the RCMP officer who allegedly was driving a Jeep that killed motorcyclist Orion Hutchinson.

He claims that when he left the scene of the accident to take his children away from the gruesome scene he drank two shots of vodka. The court denied his appeal to get his license back however, he will be getting it back soon regardless as his 90 day suspension is over next week. Although charges of impaired driving causing death and impaired driving have been recommended the Crown has yet to lay charges.

This man was one of the officers involved in the taser death of Robert Dziekanski.

His fellow officer - Const. Kwesi Millington - the one who operated the taser has undergone some brutal cross examination at the Braidwood Inquiry. He has been caught time and time again during the inquiry giving false accounts of what happened. He has had to admit that his notes on the incident give a "distorted" view of what happened.

Had there not been video - the" lies" would have gone unrecorded.

So, here we have two officers, both involved in the tasering incident that saw a man's life end and one of them involved in a drunk driving incident where another man's life ended and both have, shall we say distorted the facts, in an attempt to cover their butts.

Although the tasering incident is not motorcycle related I have included the news feed article in our news so that you can gain perspective on these two officers and who they are as people.

My question to all of you is this? Do you have any faith left in the RCMP? I know mine is at an all time low. What kind of men and women are they hiring? Where are the ethics that are supposed to be the corner stone of policing?

Then there's the "idiot" in the UK....

He tells other riders ""My advice to any bikers out there would be to just get rid of your bike and take the risk away." I call this man an idiot for a number of reasons and if you read the article you will understand my opinion on this man and his thinking...

I am disgusted and sickened by the news - yet again...stupid is as stupid does.

Stay safe and warm,

Sick, sad, and strange news...

Well, the news is full of some pretty sick and strange stories today.

In international news: A woman in Kalamazoo got 10 days in jail, 100 hours of community service and 6 months probation for killing a couple on their motorcycle when she turned in front of them....10 days for two lives - sick, sad and twisted....

Then there's the article about a biker in New Smyrna Beach Florida who, after crashing his bike called his family on his cell phone instead of calling 911. As a result of the four hours he spent calling family and friends where in he could not tell them where he crashed, he died. According to the police had he called 911 they could have located him and he might have survived...that's just sad....

Then under health and technology there's a story about motorcycles causing cancer. Is that strange?

The author of the book, "Motorcycle Cancer?" Randall Dale Chipkar. "Science proves electromagnetic danger and bikers deserve to know the truth."

In another health and technology article a study concluded that riding motorcycles keeps you young....

Ryuta Kawashima states"Our final conclusion is that riding motorcycles can lead to smart ageing."

Yes, the news is full of articles that can make you shake your head...some in a good way, some in sadness and confusion.

On our web site you will notice a bunch of new advertising. We have been approved for some top and major affiliate programs like:

Bizarre news out of London UK

Have you read the news on Belt Drive Betty dot Com today?

Some idiot in London was charged for speeding with his son on the back of his bike. He wasn't just speeding, he was doing 122 Miles per hour. (posted under international news)

What the heck possess people? It's guys like this that create the situations where laws are implemented to protect stupid people from themselves that the rest of us have to live with...like the potential law in Ontario banning kids 14 and under from being passengers on their parent's motorcycles.

Stupid is as stupid does....

In the Show 'n' Shine report from yesterday we have 2 corrections to make...
The winner of the Antique class is not Scott Longlitz, he posted the ride for his friend
Brent Honeker of Luseland and the proper name of the Sirdar Pub is - Sirdar Pub & Grill

Other than that, the winners all seem very pleased and some are extremely excited to have won. It's been very rewarding receiving the emails from the entrants and the winners. The positive feedback and comments on the paper, the newsletter and the show 'n' shine have sure propped up my sense of commitment - sometimes it's hard to know if what you do has any impact or is of any importance to people.

I am soooo very sick of the cold and the snow and unfortunately it appears we are going to be dealing with this white stuff a little longer here in the north. Last year at this time I was already riding...Blackie is still sitting here in the office with me and I swear she also is feeling the pressure building up - the need for a ride is prevelant for the old glide too...

Well, I have about 200 phone books to get out in the mail in the next few days so I had best get my butt in gear.

Stay safe and warm and if you are lucky enough to live in a climate where you are already riding, then please ride like they are out to get you.
