After getting home from seeing my brother who is terminally ill with Cancer, I discovered that my two wheel therapy is down. Hubby had taken my tires and rims over to a local dealer to put the new tires for our trip on - he had ordered the new drive belt I needed from the Harley Dealer in Smithers and it came in - he put it on the bike and then went to get the wheels - got them on only to discover that both rotors were bent. It appears that the person who put them on used tire spoons to remove the tires but didn't have the wheels secured in the tire machine - or at least not secured properly because he bent not one but BOTH rotors.
Apparently they are going to be in today - I sure hope so... I have my marketing materials for F.I.R.R.E. done, my banner should be here today - my new sales binder is pretty much done and I am working on the skeletons of 4 weeks worth of news papers...today is all about doing two months worth of invoicing and the rest of the week is dedicated to all of the last minute things that need to get done for a trip of this magnitude. 35 days on the road - takes some logistics that for sure....
I am gratified as to how many riders are going to be meeting hubby and I along the way.
In Morniville we are hooking up with some of the veterans, in Edmonton Lucien Gratton is meeting us and riding with us as far as Lloydminster, in Saskatoon we are meeting up with the Saskatchewan Lonewolves and the whole trip is shaping up that way.
I am grateful for the opportunity in that North Bay region of Ontario to be hooking up with my old buddy Lou DeVouono of the Prefect Pigs MC and the Highway of Heroes Ride - Lou is bringing friends with him... Thunder Bay is where we hook up with Canada's largest chapter of the Retreads for a pie and coffee run! In Ottawa - the Biker's Church is holding a pig roast and hubby and I are going to get to meet about 600 riders!!!
As long as Murphy stays on the back fender I will be very grateful - I hate loosing sight of that little trouble maker cause the minute you forget that that little PR is there well all HE double hockey sticks breaks out!
Our Awareness Conga for F.I.R.R.E. is being sponsored by a number of tourism regions and businesses...
In all we have MotoRescue/MotoLimo providing road side assistance for hubby and I.
Travel Alberta North & Grande Prairie Regional Tourism, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec and Charlottetown's Tourism departments along with a number of properties from Pacrim Hospitality and Choice Hotels. I am so grateful to all of theses businesses and tourism departments for seeing the value in what we are doing!
Between riding, writing - doing photography and video we are gonna be two very busy and tired people but guess what - if we can raise some money to send on terminally ill child from Canada and their family to Orlando...if we can light a F.I.R.R.E. in the souls of the riders we meet and have anything over 10 riders become members of F.I.R.R.E. and make one person who is a non rider go hmmm and become a safer driver - well I will feel blessed and fortunate and like we will have done a pretty good job for our first time out of the gates. You heard me - I am planning on doing this type of trip again - maybe for the same causes, maybe to create awareness for other causes but regardless the Awareness Conga will be an annual event if I have ANYTHING to say about it!
If you haven't checked out our itinerary to figure out where you can join us - visit: www.firre.ca and click on the Awareness Conga Link - I hope you will join us be it for an hour, a day or the whole trip....
