Every year we raise funds and toys to go to those who are not as blessed as some of the rest of us.</span></span></i><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">For me, my involvement with Toys for Tots is a pay it forward thing.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">21 years ago my girl and I were the benefactors of bikers, their generosity and sense of family/brotherhood. I promised Doug McPherson all those years ago that I would pay the kindness forward and I have and will do so for as long as I draw a breath.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Toy runs are wonderful but the BEST day of the year is today, the first Saturday in December as we go out and spend over $20K on toys.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The sweetest phrase a woman can hear  is "You aren't done shopping yet" or "You haven't spent enough yet." </span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Imagine - with the toys we collected and the toys we will buy today, we will impact over 1,500 hundred kids. A core group of 10 - 15 riders who put the event together and the 4-500 riders who come out and the businesses who support us...</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">1,500 kids are going to have Christmas. To me this is my CHRISTMAS day.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I am honored, humbled and grateful to be a part of something with such POSITIVE impact.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I remember how grateful I was all those years ago when Nicky and I were in a spot and we were given food, COFFEE and gifts.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It only takes one person stepping up when their community needs them to to make a difference. Like one small pebble thrown into a lake, the ripple effect of the actions of ONE volunteer can be enormous and have such a POSITIVE effect. It's a beautiful life...if it doesn't kill you.

<i><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It is true that life is what we make it.</span></span></i><br /> <i><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It is also true that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.</span></span></i><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">We have the choice very day to be happy, to be grumpy...many times we act like it is everyone else's fault when we are sour on life or having a bad day.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">But the honest truth is, it's OUR CHOICE.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">We choose to be victims, we choose to get trampled on, we choose the out come based on our actions and mind set. We choose to succeed, triumph over adversity and be cheerful and exhibit daily the attributes that make one successful, triumphant or cheerful.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Bottom line is we choose. Every motivational speaker I listen to or read tells me the same thing...every life coach - their messages are all fundamentally the same.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">On so many levels I get that- that we choose our outcomes and our destinies...</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Sometimes however, I find it hard to remember that.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It is so draining dealing with people who are embarrassed, humiliated, saddened, scared, frustrated, angry....you name the negative emotion and that's what's swirling all around business owners and managers right now.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"></span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Every day, I try to look inward, to find my centre and my own light, my strength.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I think of the things that make me feel peaceful and hopeful, joyous and happy and then I tackle my day.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Lately I have to go to the well of my spirituality to find peace/comfort/strength three and four times a day. I have to talk to myself constantly to remind myself that this too shall pass.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I know a lot of people will think I am a wee bit off my rocker, but folks, I want your insight, your help, your guidance and ideas...why?</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><b>Because:</b></span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">1: I value the opinions and ideas of my friends and my enemies - they help me grow and look for alternate solutions to the issues/challenges I am facing. I find inspiration in the darnedest of places.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">2: I work by myself 95% of the time and the only interaction I have with people on a day to day basis is on the phone or by email. I get really lonely and really tunnel visioned.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I don't want to wear blinders all day - I want to spread my wings, expand my mind, grow my soul...that's hard to do by yourself.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The last time we went through this type of an economic melt down in the motorcycle industry was in July of 07. I could get out and ride my motorcycle. The magic that machine works on my brain  was available to me.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Here I am right now, staring at my motorcycle wishing, daydreaming...it's -20 and I won't be riding for a while.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I would welcome any guidance, help, suggestions, ideas on how to continue to stay positive and upbeat even when it feels like the world wants to drag your arse down...</span><br /> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">What inspires you?
