Happy Valentine's Day

I hope that you all hug your motorcycle and your better half today. It's up to you which one you choose to hug first!

I have another busy day ahead to get the calendars ready for printing.

There are so many events that have been canceled for this year!
There are a lot of new events cropping up too and new clubs - holy cow!

It never ceases to amaze me how many web sites there are out there that have been abandoned.
I can't understand why you would put a site up and then just not do anything with it. I wished there was a cyberspace garbage can that when you come across a dead site you could just throw it out.

It also amazes me how many riding clubs think that every one should know where their favorite coffee shop or pub is located. Or how they are amazed that a person doesn't know their event always happens on the first Saturday of whatever month.

Every day there are more people getting their license who haven't ridden before or haven't ridden in years - how are they supposed to know what's what? The lack of good solid information that is out there and the amount of phone calls and emails it takes to generate good event calendars is mind blowing.

I try very hard to ensure our information is accurate, I hope you will help me by letting me know when you see a wrong date or some other misinformation - your help goes a long way in making the riding season wonderful for everyone! Don't forget I am the Type O Queen - my brain is always way ahead of where my fingers are - LOL

Any how - I am going to go set started on my day - have a great Valentine's day ....talk to you all later.

Have you noticed?

Not sure how often you visit the site but I hope you have noticed all of the little changes happening.

Our site has been approved by a number of top level advertisers and affiliate programs, which is really good news for us, especially if any of you decide to check out what these people have to offer. We applied to as many quality Canadian programs and advertisers as we could.

We have also signed with Delta Hotels for a year and it is my hopes that we can keep these advertisers happy. Just like the BDB Club program - I hope you will support the people who support us - it is after all advertisers who pay for the tools and information we supply and the free web sites that we host for non profits.

The changes are not just in the advertising we have been approved for. Ali has been working like a fiend to finish all of our travel and tourism pages, our lifestyles and BDB Club pages.

We are planning on running another contest soon, we still need to work out the details but it will involve your knowledge of and participation on this site....And for those of you who have been asking - YES we will be running another show 'n' shine.

There is a new survey for you to take about Hotels and Motels, it's located on the Belt Drive Community pages under Travel & Tourism....please fill it out - our sponsors want your input into their businesses and what they supply in their establishments.

Anyway - if I am going to print the runs, rallies and events in the paper this coming week I had best get cracking with tidying up the events in the calenders....until next time,

Passing it on

I have begun chosen the 5 Blogs that I am to pass the Fabulous Blog Award to.

It's tough only choosing 5 - I have at least a dozen I could have chosen.

I just put the finishing touches on my column for the Northern Horizon and Mirror newspapers and am now going to get back to the events calendars.

There are a ton of events to finish updating!

I have been looking at my motorcycle and day dreaming....soon, very soon it will be riding season and my feet are itchy to travel!

A bit behind here...

Well, I am slowly getting back to normal, not that there is anything remotely normal about me!

I apologize for not having been around the last couple of days, but laying low was well worth it.

I received a wonderful surprise today! I got a Fabulous Blog Award from WyzWmn!

It's always nice to know that people actually read what you have to say. I have some wonderful supporters and am so grateful to them for helping me keep it real!

A rough couple of days ahead

Not sure what happened to me last night, I stood up to go into the house, got dizzy, felt like getting sick and the next thing I knew my husband was trying to get me up off of the floor. I landed hard too. Bruised a couple of ribs and my elbow. After feeling so great from that fabulous massage, this was not the way I expected my day to end. I'm going to be moving a little slowly for a few days.

I know that I am in the "News" business but I sure hate reading the news from the main stream media. It always seems to be filled with so much gloom and doom that I'd really rather not.
The media (in my mind) has played such a HUGE roll in creating this environment. Do they really realize the power they have? I think not.

What are your thoughts on the world economy and the main stream media's roll in it all?
Is it affecting you and if so - how is it affecting you? How do you feel about reading/watching the news these days?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject...

Another wonderful day

Man am I on a roll! Yesterday was fabulous!

My daughter and I had our Hot Rock massages yesterday - first time for that kind of massage...oh man does that make you melt. If you get a chance to experience it - do it!

Today is paper delivery day, I also have a meeting with the gal who is helping me to re write and update my business plan. With any luck I'll be ready to go to the BDC in the next 2 weeks. I also hope to have the last of the phone books out to show n shine entrants and those who pre-ordered books by tomorrow!

The other thing on my agenda is to finish up year end to get it in to the accountant by Monday.
When you own a business the paper work never seems to end!

I am stoked as I now have a couple of gents from Ontario who have agreed to become a part of our network and I now have a couple of people in Ontario to train for ad sales!

If we can keep up this head of steam pretty soon the web site and news paper will match my dream exactly - a National Clearinghouse for Canadian Motorcycle information!

I hope you'll join us on this exciting journey. Get involved on the web site - review your favorite businesses in our on line phone book - add your favorite business if we don't have them in there. Comment on the news articles and stories, submit your jokes and riding club profile.

Membership to the web site is free! Subscriptions to the weekly newspaper- The Busted Knuckle Chronicles are $15.00 per year.

The BDB Club has about 100 member businesses now and that means that the savings card is becoming a very valuable asset for your wallet! If you are a member you can download and print off your savings card - if you aren't a member yet - sign up and get your card!

A great day!

Well, I had some very fruitful discussions with Travel Alberta yesterday.

I actually got some time with the new Chairman and he really wants to team up with us to promote Alberta and Alberta Rider Friendly Businesses.

That is exciting news because if they start working with us it is only a matter of time before we get more provinces on board!

My dream of having all of our resources be available to all riders for free just might come true sooner that I had hoped!

My next round of meetings with them is February 19th. Cross your fingers, toes and eyes people.

I am going to get settled in to get paper work done, have my daily work out and then, this afternoon my daughter and I are going to use our Christmas presents! We are going for an afternoon at the day spa - hot rock massage, facial and lunch!

I hope your day will be as good as mine promises to be!
