Rick Billay of Cyn City Saloon and Mitch Lambert, the owner of Cynthia RV Park and Campground and also owner of the Cyn City Saloon we a part of the kids day by Bullying Enns.

Rick says his favorite part of the day is seeing the kids faces as they are riding on the back of a motorcycle.

Mitch says his favorite part is seeing everyone happy, smiling and having a good time.  He also states the event is incredibly well organized.

Cyn City Saloon has always been involved in programs for child advocacy.  When he became friends with Vinnie Wilcox of Ubaka and Steve Enns of Bullying Enns, he though we have a Saloon and a campground.  What better way to lend a hand and raise some money and awareness.  Sponsors are so very important to events like this.

Niveya & Callie were first time riders on a motorcycle that day.  Niveya says it felt great and Callie says it was amazing.  Watch out mamas!!

Mr. Mitchell of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club said it was a privilege and an honor to take these young ladies on their first ride.

He says it is a great even and wonderful opportunities for the children is so glad he got to enjoy it with them.

Les Trepanier is a volunteer for Bullying Enns.  Les says his greatest satisfaction is when he sees a childs that has been bullied, and the look and smile on their face when they get off the back of a bike.  We all have a soft spot for the little ones.  It's about giving insight to these kids and letting them know that they have friends and support.

Everyone comes together for these events.

Mark Smith, an MLA for Drayton Valley - Devon, was the dunk tank champion for the day.

Mark says, as an MLA, he is fortunate to be able to get involved in amazing events like this and help support raising funds and awareness for good causes.

Mark was a teacher for over 30 years and understands how important it is for our children to feel safe, appreciated, and loved just the way they are.  That's what this event was showing and building community.  Mark says as an MLA, it's all about building trust and community.

Murray Galavan of the Drayton Valley, Brazeau County Fire Department and the Red Knights Motorcycle club was asked by another rider if he could bring out the fire truck for the kids.  He was glad to do it and was there to show the kids exactly what a fireman is all about.

Riley was a young man all dressed up in the firemen gear.  He's not sure he wants to be a fireman but was sure having a great time!

The whole day was centered around the children.  It was a learning experience for all and even life changing for some.

3rd Annual Ride for Mom

The 3rd Annual Ride for Mom took place at Blackjacks Roadhouse on May 11th, 2019.
300 motorcycles participated under beautiful sunny skies and 24 degree temperatures!

Krysta Shields, Kevin O'Connor and Tyler Grant are the Ride for Mom.
Krysta is the manager of Blackjacks Roadhouse & Games Room.  Kevin is an Alberta Sheriff and Tyler is the social media guy for Blackjacks catching as much of the action to share with everyone and helping to build the reputation they have as Alberta’s Best Bike Bar.

The Ride for Mom is one of the fastest growing events in Alberta and the reason is obvious, Blackjacks Roadhouse hosts the most incredible Two Wheel Tuesday Ride Nights anywhere in the province and they do it by supporting different causes and charities every week with their $6 burger sales and the best food and service around. (They work hard to serve so many in such a short space of time every Tuesday!)

There are a few other reasons this event is so fast growing - the Shields Family themselves are renowned around the northern half of Alberta for their giving natures and their sense of being in service to others. Just ask anyone who has benefited from their generosity at their free Christmas buffet where they give up their Christmas to feed others! (Never mind everything else they do and they do a lot of charitable work, every last one of them.)

Then there is the ride itself and everything you get because of the sponsors who supply the free breakfast, the free patches, the water at all the stops, and the signage. The sheriffs and the RCMP who help keep things safe, and the Victim Services offices who help out. You get a ton for your $30 entry fee including door prize tickets!

And finally, there is the cause. Ending Domestic Violence.

The Ride for Mom supports:
Edmonton Domestic Violence Shelters Engage (EDVSE) to help end domestic violence.
Six Edmonton-based organizations that advocate for survivors of domestic violence, for their organizations, and for the sheltering response: La Salle, Lurana Shelter Society, WIN House, Wings of Providence, Sage Seniors Safe House, and the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters.
Because of the hard work of the board of directors, and Krysta Shields in particular, 100% of the proceeds raised go towards the needs of Edmonton Area shelters.

The Ride for Mom helps build strong families through education and awareness of exactly what the impact of domestic violence is on women and children.

Having all of the first responders and victim services all involved in this ride, brings the message home loud and clear that there are women and children that need all of the support they can get and that domestic violence needs to be stopped.

Guardians of the Children, BACA, Bullying Enns, UBAKA, Protection for the Unprotected, Bikers are Buddies and many other children’s rights advocacy groups were on hand lending their support to this cause.  On hand were some of the regional ladies riding clubs like Babes on Bikes, Women in the Wind, & Pink Motor Sisters!

To the communities of Millet & Breton, your hospitality was amazing and East Parkland Bible Church I was told the time there was fantastic.
To the staff of Blackjacks Roadhouse and the volunteers from Brunch for Broads, the ATB, Klondike Insurance and the EDVSE, thank you for another amazing day!

It's All About the Kids - Cynthia Alberta

The "It's All about the Kid's" Day that was hosted by Bullying Enns and UBAKA (Urban Bulldogs Against Kid Abuse) was an incredible event to attend.

Joy, absolute joy is what was expressed on pretty much every kid's face.

The hamlet of Cynthia has a population of 50.
Mitch's Campground and RV Park is where the event was held.

They have a small motel and a pub called the Cyn City Saloon and a few other small businesses and that's about all.

What the community lacks in size, it makes up for in heart.

The volunteers and sponsors of the day worked
their hearts and souls out to give the hundreds of kids who came out a great day.  There was a silent auction both outside and in the pub.

There were lawn games, a bouncy castle, face painting, motorcycle rides, fire fighter gear and job demonstrations, a by donation BBQ...and the DUNK TANK!

I have no idea who had more fun, the adults and the kids throwing the balls or the volunteers making sure the dunk tank victims got dunked - appropriately!

It was an incredible and inspiring day that saw Bullying Enns and UBAKA walk away with over $17K in donations with which to further the programs they already offer and in the case of Bullying Enns, allow them to host a BBQ for all
of the kids they have given rides and support to and to supply them all with special back packs for school.

Steve and his non-profit board are also looking to the future and what kinds of other programs they might be able to offer to end/prevent bullying.

Like every non-profit and every event hosted, without the sponsors, these things wouldn't be possible.

Bullying Enns and UBAKA would like to thank:
Mitch's Cynthia Campground & RV Park, Cyn City Saloon, Secure Energy, and Steel Horses Photography, the Drayton Valley Fire Department, M & M Meats, the MLA Mark Smith, Hydro Vacuum Services and so many, many more sponsors and supporters. It took a ton of volunteers, and so many businesses that donated to the silent auctions, the bouncy castle that was donated, the DJ services that were donated.

But when you look at the results, when you see these children feeling confident, comfortable and strong, when you see those faces and the smiles, you know it was more than worth it.
IT WAS AMAZING and so needed.

I enjoyed this event so much, and I see the need for events like this to introduce kids to the community of motorcycling, to help empower them, the show them there adults out there who care...that I have invited Steve Enns and his non-profit Bullying Enns to help us do this same sort of day here in Grande Prairie and hopefully grow a chapter of Bullying Enns Riders. These are riders who take kids to school on their motorcycles or pick them up after - present them with some information, some support, some swag and then stay connected to them. I think that it's something Grande Prairie and pretty much every community where people live could use! Anyway June 1st 2019 is the date for Bullying Enns - It's All About the Kids - Grande Prairie AB Version!
