I read with some concern about SGI pairing up with Baseline Telematics.

Here is the link to the article

There are claims that this system makes for better drivers and they hope it will be the same for riders.

The paying of people to take these units for a test drive concerns me.  I think that if they are going to monitor when and where you ride, and how you you ride - brake, speed etc., then they should also mount video cameras to record WHY those situations may be occurring.

According to the article: "Baseline Telematics is creating the first pilot program in the world to offer a Pay-As-You-Drive and Pay-How-You-Drive insurance coverage to motorcyclists in Western Canada. SGI would be the first in the world to use telematics for motorcycles.

Often called Usage-Based Insurance or UBI, Baseline Telematics has already a unique solution it offers Canadian insurers so they can use telematics devices in vehicles to record driving information, such as speed, braking, mileage and driving location in order to determine the risk of a claim associated with a vehicle. Baseline Telematics has already assisted several "early adopter" insurers take advantage of the benefits of the quickly evolving telematics based insurance trend.  The Baseline Telematics' technology provides a turn-key insurance telematics solution and the fastest implementation available in the market."

Please read the WHOLE article - do not take my word/interpretation of what I read as any kind of gospel.  Visit the web site refrenced in the article and read the section called THE FINE PRINT.

I am concerned when I see the word mandatory mentioned in any way - making this system manditory for any rider concerns me.

What I want to know is what is your take on this topic?

PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE read and share this information with everyone who rides as this has the potential to be the next war for equality that we need to address as a community!

In other news, Ray Sasseveille of Sturgis North fame has a concern on his hands.

  1. You might want to seek some counseling to help you move on from your Sturgis North experiences. Or maybe now you are going to report everyone convicted of sexual assault or just the ones related to people connected with Sturgis North ????? One thing for sure your column is always laughable!!!! Don't get me wrong anyone convicted of that crime deserves to be punished I just found it odd you would report it on this website. Seems to be a hidden agenda ??

  2. Well Mike - laughable as it may be to you I am going to keep the people who run Sturgis North on the minds of riders until everyone I can possibly reach is educated as to who they are dealing with. I have uncovered millions in fraud cases against them. I have witnessed hundreds of people be scammed and hurt. I can not in good conscience let any other innocents be hurt. So call it laughable but the fact of the matter is you read it and it blog.

  3. The laughable part is someone being convicted of sexual assault and you using against the organizers of Sturgis North. I can only assume this asshole is related to an organizer but it has absolutely nothing to do with Sturgis North. As far as people being scammed and defrauded of money there are legal avenues for them to take and I certainly hope those affected are exploring those avenues. If the organizers of Sturgis north ripped people off they should be held accountable.

  4. You are entitled to your opinion. Ray's son was just convicted of a terrible crime. I have reams of research on Mr Sasseville My goal in keeping him, his family and his business out there is to prevent others from being hurt by them and that can only be accomplished by understanding what kind of people they are. I can't remember the exact date of the one Research articl here in my blog but I believe it was in November 2012 that shows links to public records on a number of convictions and various court proceedings. Education is my ulterior motive
