In a beautiful little town called Cynthia Alberta, Steve Enns, the founder of Bully Enns, spoke with Renee.

Bully Enns supports children who are being bullied.  Bullying is no laughing matter. It can have life long effects and can often lead to self harm or even suicide.

Steve founded the group after seeing how much bullying goes on on social media alone.  About 10 years ago, he and about a group of 5 friends took a neighbors child to school on the back of a bike after learning he was being bullied.  An idea spawned, and his group was formed.

About 150 to 200 kids showed up for kids day put on by Bully Enns in Cynthia AB.  With games, face painting, and even a dunk tank, fun was had by all.

Bullying Enns - ending bullying and making our community stronger.

Freshly turned 18, Riley Gangon is already becoming a seasoned bull rider.  Returning to Airdrie from a shoulder injury, Riley is looking forward to his rides.

Riley pulled a bull of Curtis Sawyers.  Little Red Bull has a left hand pull and Riley says that's important when you're riding.  In the short round, he hopes to pull a bull that has bucked him off a few times.

Riley says the bulls love the rides and are treated like royalty.  Each bull is eager to ride and truly enjoys it.

Tanner, age 5 and Adam, age 6 were loving the mutton busting.  Tanner won the championship this year and was awarded a shiny new belt buckle.  Tanner says it was pretty cool.  He wants to grow up to be a real cowboy but can't remember why.  Adam wants to grow up to be a cowboy because he loves riding the sheep.

Russ Binder is one of the family members that own The Airdrie Airpark who  are hosts to this years event.  Russ brought out his Mercedes and took a few laps on the track and came back with some pretty impressive times.  The Binder family got involved simply because the love the people and all the noise!

Dana Mum of the Didsbury Car Club says they are a group of men and women that like to promote different events and support different services and the suicide awareness campaign.

The do a lot of drag races, show and shines, drive in theaters and a cabaret every year.  6 or 7 events a year to get the community involved and raise awareness

Fire 'n' Wheels Rally in Edgerton, and some upcoming events you don't want to miss!

Last weekend I headed out to Edgerton Alberta for the Fire 'n' Wheels Rally.

The ride down was a mixed bag of weather with it being cold and windy but dry leaving Grande Prairie. I stopped for breakfast in Valleyview at the Subway with a friend, put on my heated gear and rain gear as the sky looked positively ominous and headed off again. On the Anthony Henday it started to rain and by the time I hit the turn off to Wainwright, it was pouring.

I stopped in Tofield for a coffee and something to eat knowing I only had a 180 K to go and it was only 6PM, I could make it if I din't daly long.  That turned into I will stay right where I am, and I got a room at the Beaver Hill Motel.

No, I was not riding through that, I have done it before, did not like it much.

I had a good night sleep and headed out bright and early.
I made it into Edgerton with about a half hour to spare before the Poker Rally left.

From the time I arrived until the time I headed in to Wainwright to sleep the day was a blur.

We went to Wainwright for the Poker Stop and I did some photography.
When we got back to the grounds I got cameras set up and interviewed a ton of folks for Ride Like a Local our Community TV Show on EastLink TV.

We had a magnificent supper and watched amazing demonstrations from the Fire department on using the jaws of life and we watched a car with no oil, no water blow up for the chance to win some$$$$.

As the evening's entertainment got started, Mother Nature dumped on the event, and not just a little, it was a deluge. Our colouring competition only saw 4 people participate but they had fun in spite of no lights in the beer gardens area.

The entire time that Mother Nature was being rotten, the auctioneer kept pressing on....
In all over $45,000 was raised by the event to help the Edgerton Volunteer Fire Department, thanks to the sponsors and volunteers that made sure the event was paid for before the gates opened!

Emery Erickson is a profession rodeo announcer.  He has worked in 3 countries and announces over 150 events a year.  He loves the Airdrie Bikes and Bulls Rumble on the Runway.  Everyone wants to be there and the event has always won awards and top honors.  It is the event of the year.

Every year there is some people who speculate that the animals are treated unfairly.  Emery was there to assure everyone they are treated like kings and queens!!  The are very well taken care of with the best of everything.  A good bull can fetch $50-$100,000 so they make sure nothing bad happens to them.  A vet is always on hand and the bulls are not harmed at all.

Everyones favorite event this year is the Wild Cow Milking.  Many sponsors, business men, and city slickers get to try their hand and milking a wild cow and it makes for great entertainment!!

The Smith Pulling Team is a motorcycle racing team that consists of Dad, Ted Smith and Daughter, Holly Smith.  This was Hollys first year racing and had a blast.  This was Teds first time at a tree in 45 years!  Old school was beating new school all day at this event!  They all had great time and are working hard to keep up the good work.

Betty spotted a Barbie doll on the back of a Ninja and had to stop to ask why.  Steve Ross, a drag racer, was sporting the Barbie on the back of his bike because his wife had to work that day.  Barbie was filling in as the back rider.  Steve says he races there because it is so much safer than the street.  His goal is to be consistent to win.

The Didsbury Car Club was hosting the drag racing this year.  Rod Peters, drag racer and rat rod driver, was at the drags for his first year and thoroughly enjoying it.  His rat rod has been called the vehicle from the Mad Max movies and looks quite similar!  He found the 1951 Chevy pick up in his neighbors pasture and it had been sitting there for 30 years.  He found parts, welded them on, and made the truck work!

Ride Like a Local sat down with Adrian Pruden.  Adrian is the event coordinator for the Airdrie Bikes and Bulls Rumble on the Runway.

This year the event was held at the airport.  This is a brand new venue for them and they didn't know what to expect having to add a runway.  They built big!  The beer gardens alone are 2 1/2 football fields long!!  And it was a good thing too as the attendance this year was outstanding.

Tons of people come together every year to make the event successful.  From board members, volunteers, and charities, they all come together as one and create an amazing event every year.

There are a number events that are held to include all ages.  Drag racing, bull riding, motorcycle rodeo, saddle bronc riding and mutton busting to name a few.

There are a number of events to include all ages that makes this the perfect family event.  Tubular Optimization are some big sponsors for the weekend.  Tyler and Eric tried their hand at the Wild Cow Milking and Tylers son Tanner was the mutton busting champion and won a belt buckle!!

Of the many sponsors that support the weekend two major ones are the airport owner, and Terra Energy.  All were excited to have a blank canvas to work with and have already begun planning for next year.

Airdrie Bikes and Bulls and the Airdrie Oilmens Association support charities like the Airdrie Food Bank, The Community Links Program and the Airdrie and District Victims Association.  The service each charity provides is far reaching and incredibly important.  It definitely makes these guys proud to be able to give back.

Valerie Kent works in the motor clothes department at Barnes Harley-Davidson.  She loves her bike and going down the road.  Feeling the wind in her hair, going on adventures and meeting new people.  It's all about having a good time.

She's at the Sicamous Summer Stomp and has met a lot of friends so she loves to come back every year.

She has a sissy bar on her bike made by her husband and put together by a friend.  This is her fourth year riding and says her longest ride was over 900 kms.  She has put on over 14,000 kms in the last four years.  She just loves to travel!!

She is blessed to be working for Harley-Davidson because she gets to travel to these events, meet new people and talk bikes.

Ria Schness aka Ria the Welder makes custom sissy bars.  Ria fell in love with bikes at a young age.  She had two neighbors that would take her for rides.  Her boyfriends all had bikes growing up.  Finally four years ago she decided the wait was over and finally got her own bike.  Her longest ride was Kelown to Utah, camped 3 days in the desert, and rode back home.

Ria trades her welding expertise and will trade her custom sissy bars for bike maintenance, paint jobs etc.

Lauren Kerrison is the merchandise and inventory manager/motor clothes for the Langley, Kamloops and Victoria Barnes Harley-Davidson stores

Lauren loves working for Harley-Davidson.  They are one big family.  She gets to travel a lot and meet new and interesting people all the time.

She loves her department.  Motor clothes follows all the major fashion houses.  She gets to go to two fashion shows a year where the clothes are modeled and she gets to see the clothes in action.  The clothes are designed for riders by riders so they are functional, amazing and built to last.

There is the game of Barnes between the three stores where the highest point earner can win some major prizes including a new bike.  It's just another way to get involved with the community and have a great time!

After we met with Shannon Wammer.  Shannon is the apparel manager and events coordinator at Konquer Motorcycles.  As well as Tim Allen who is the website and events coordinator.

Shannon loves the Sicamous Summer Stomp.  It means she gets to be outside in the fresh air and sun and not stuck in the office.  She loves watching all the riding games and meeting new people

Tim agrees and said he loves to interact with the customers and educate them with their rides, apparel and parts.

Tim says the number one ailment during the year is tires.  Please always check your tire threads and air pressure.  Be safe first and replace the tires if need be.  They will help you out with basic service.

Konquer Custom Rides is new for them.  They will be doing custom builds, detailing, service and merchandise.  Stop by!
